William Martin Jean Artist Statement:
As a concert goer and artist, I have always visualized works I listened to in terms of form, line, and color. My own work has mostly been geometric and abstract. So, listening to this work and understanding the formal aspects of the sonata form gave me the opportunity to scribble while I listened on several occasions.
Sketches had me seeing ascending and descending images like stairs. I also felt the circle could be developed individually to go from exposition to recapitulation and deliver the intricacies of each movement. I wanted each circle to develop spontaneously…
